Malcolm Halliday
Malcolm Halliday currently lives much of the year in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico where he continues an active performing and teaching career. He returns periodically to the U.S. to concertize and spend time at his lake home in Ashburnham, MA. He also does occasional substitute work as organist and/or choir director for New England houses of worship.
Mr. Halliday is artistic Director of Chorale San Miguel, a semi-professional chorus in residence at the Franciscan convent of San Miguel, where he also administers concerts with an 1875 Johnson pipe organ, recently restored and imported from Williamstown, MA.
His cantata "Emily", about the Canadian painter and writer Emily Carr was premiered in San Miguel to great success on Feb. 26, 2026. Plans are underway to bring the work to Canada.
In addition to piano and organ solo recital work, Mr. Halliday also works with singers and instrumentalists in a wide range of collaborative concerts in both the U.S. and Mexico. Malcolm Halliday performs The Battle of Trenton by James Hewitt and Charles Ives' Variations on 'America' on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 7 PM at New Dawn Arts Center at 84 Main St. in Ashburnham, MA, using the historic 1886 Hutchings organ. The concert is 'America at 250: Then and Now' a staged reading created and directed by Kevin Scott Hall and featuring many area musicians, as well as readers of historic texts for the occasion.

Malcolm Halliday performs César Franck's monumental sonata in A major for violin and piano with violinist Yulia Potvin-Zhuravleva. Both artists will also present Schumann's Romanzen, as well as two song transcriptions (Fauré's Après un Rêve and Schuman's Widmung transcribed by Franz Liszt). Ms. Zhuravleva will also play Ysaÿe's Obsession for solo violin. The concert is free admission and the public is welcome.
